Share your request
with your people.

Help usually starts with people who already know you. Your request gets its own link and a WhatsApp Status card, so it is easy to send. Here is where to share it and what to say.

Where to share

Start close, then go wider.

First

Family

Parents, siblings, uncles and aunties. A personal message to each person works better than one broadcast.
Next

Friends and colleagues

Old classmates, people at work, your street or estate.
Then

WhatsApp groups

Family, class, alumni, market and estate groups. Introduce yourself and keep it short.
Everyday

WhatsApp Status

Post your Status card. People who would never ask you directly still see it.
Community

Church or mosque groups

Ask the leader first if the group has rules about requests.
Anywhere

Paste your link in a post, a story or your bio.

Messages you can send

Change them to your own words and your own need. The names and amounts here are only examples.

To family

Send it to each person, one by one.

Good evening Auntie. I did not want to bother you, but the hospital is holding Mama until we clear ₦40,000 of the bill. I put a request on AbegNa with the bill attached. Anything at all will help, and if you can share it with the family, God bless you. abegna.com/r/…

To a WhatsApp group

Say who you are first. Many people in a group may not know you well.

Good afternoon everyone. It is Chinedu from 300 level Mech. My school fees portal closes on the 30th and I am still short ₦38,000 after my dad’s shop burnt. My request and the school invoice are here. Please give if you can, or just share. Thank you. abegna.com/r/…

With your Status card

Post the card, then add one line of your own.

My son’s drugs finished on Monday. ₦14,500 covers the full month. The link is in my request, thank you for anything you can do 🙏

To your church or mosque group

Ask the leader or admin first if the group has rules.

Peace be with you all. Please pray with me. My landlord gave me two weeks to clear ₦60,000 on our rent. I have put the details and the notice on AbegNa. If you are able to help, here is the link. If not, your prayers are enough. abegna.com/r/…

A thank you update

When people start giving, tell them.

Thank you to everyone who has given and shared. I am now ₦12,000 away. Your kindness has carried me this far. I will post the receipt when it is paid. abegna.com/r/…

A gentle reminder

Once, a few days later, with something new to say.

Quick update: the school extended the portal by one week, so there is a little more time. I am ₦9,000 away. Thank you for sharing again if you can. abegna.com/r/…

How often to share

Enough that people see it. Not so much that they mute you.

Day one

Share widely

Family one by one, then your groups, then your Status.
A few days later

Share an update

Say how far you have come and thank the people who gave. Do not repeat the first message.
When it is paid

Close the loop

Post the receipt and a thank you. People remember who kept their word.

Keep it kind

Do

  • Be honest about where you are
  • Thank people by name if they are happy with that
  • Answer questions politely

Don’t

  • Pressure, guilt or tag people again and again
  • Say time is running out when it is not
  • Send it to strangers in their DMs

Questions

Where do I find my link?
Every request gets its own link the moment it is posted, in the form abegna.com/r/ followed by your code. You can copy it or share it straight from the app.
What is the Status card?
A tall picture made for WhatsApp Status, with your photo, first name and what you need. Tap Share to WhatsApp Status on your request and the app makes it for you.
Can people give without the app?
Your link opens a page anyone can see. When AbegNa launches, the people you send it to can give from there.
Is it okay to share in groups I am in?
Yes, if you follow the group’s rules. Introduce yourself, keep it short and do not post the same message again and again.

Be first when AbegNa goes live.

We’ll let you know the day it opens.
